The real estate damage calculations were carried out with a value of houses equal to €250.000. According to Statbel, the Belgian statistics agency, this is the median value of a house located in Ypres. No distinction was made between houses with 2, 3, 4 or more facades and apartments.
Houses (numbers)
The number of affected houses in Ypres was determined for all statistical sectors in function of the areas around the industrial wind turbines. Since no statistical sector data are available for Langemark and Zonnebeke, the number of affected houses was not determined and therefore not included in the real estate damage calculations, which led to an underestimation of the damage.
